Feeling the Time

Feeling the Time
4.593 Independent Study in Architectural Computation, Spring 2018

This research investigates on temporal aspect of our experience within the space, which is a vivid part of our unconsciousness that affect our overall experience of an environment. The work argues that spatial features such as light condition, color and geometry, are essential aspects of our temporal experiences. Based on the attentional gate model (AGM) in psychology, which argues sense of time is the result of allocation of our attentional resources to self, time and environment, the research studies the relation of spatial features and allocation of attentional resources. Preliminary experiments demonstrate that light condition as a spatial feature, can manipulate the attentional level, divert the attentional resources from timing and consequently sense of duration and subjective experience of time within the space.
